I disagree. This is bad policy as I feel that while trying to lift the acceleerator with your feet, your concentration will lapse and you will (While accelerating) hit the car in front.. Surely the best answer would be to turn off the ignition switch

On the question of jammed accelerator I feel you should turn off ignition and use hazard lights and move safely to the side of road.

definitly do not turn ignition off or you will turn off power steering and will be very hard to control.
So lifting with your feet is correct.

Pressing the clutch, then the break, in a manual car works fine too.
